The Higher Education Development Unit (HEDU) within the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development has responsibility for facilitating and strengthening operational structures, policies and procedures across the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, Barbados Community College and Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic. Wheelock College is a private institution located in Boston, with a long-standing public mission to improve the lives of children and families globally.
Project Summary
The funding of this project will promote an opportunity to fill a critical gap in specialised teacher training and improve competency in early childhood education. The project provides training for twenty-five teachers in Barbados thereby impacting on their schools by providing guidance to their peers and reaching hundreds of students upon completion of the programme. There will be an increased capacity for delivery of graduate programmes by Erdiston Teachers’ Training College and strong relationships formed and increased knowledge by the partner institutions (HEDU, Wheelock College, Erdiston Teachers’ Training College and Barbados Community College).
