The Maria Holder Nursery School

The Maria Holder Nursery School was built by in Memory of the late Maria Holder. It was her wish to assist within the educational sector especially at the important early stages of a child’s schooling. Maria’s belief was “without education you have nothing”.

Project Summary

The school was officially opened on 30 September 2011 at Sharon, St Thomas and is the first school built by The Maria Holder Memorial Trust in collaboration with The Government of Barbados. The school currently has a roll of 113 children and held its first graduation on 9 July 2012. The students at the Maria Holder Nursery school all range between the ages of 3 – 5 years old which is the optimum age for early childhood development. Entry into school at this age will stimulate innate curiosity and a desire to learn and improved performance of students in primary education.
